Think of a ring as a painter’s canvas for the artful and creative expression of your personality.
What’s your artistic fingerprint? Are you drawn to abstract or realistic art? Do you prefer white gold, yellow gold or both? A wide ring or a narrow ring? To many choices perhaps?
Our Artistic rings for men have a wide range of styles and techniques. There are basically two techniques presented here, intaglio and precious metal fusion.
- Intaglio: Wikipedia says that this word derives derives from the Italian tagliare to cut, preceded by in. Thus, it is to “cut-in.” It refers to a number of techniques in art, applied to many different materials, which all have in common that the image is created by cutting, carving or engraving into a flat surface, as opposed to a relief, a cameo where the image is what is left when the background has been cut away to leave the image apparently “lifted-up” above the background. These intaglio designs are very complex involving minute variations of design, casting, stone setting, polishing and finishing.
- Fusion: This is basically the process of joining two pieces of metal together through heat or using a another soldering material. The Echo and Klimt bands here are soldered artistic bands of different colors and purities of gold resembling an abstract art sculpture. The fusion bands result from the heat of a torch bringing gold metals of different colors to an almost molten state. Just before they liquefy, the flame is removed and the metals bind together, resulting in a ‘snap shot’ of the metal in its near fluid state. The rims of the rings are thick 18k gold wires, framing the ring and strengthening it just as an I beam does a piece of steel.
